BACK-END DEVELOPER

Full-Time

Massive datasets and feature-rich APIs don’t organize themselves! Become our back-end developer and code the behind-the-scenes functionality that powers our platform. We’re seeking a team player who loves clean data and simple, efficient code.

WHAT WILL YOUR JOB BE LIKE FROM DAY TO DAY?

Your day may consist of writing unit tests, researching libraries and frameworks, and developing new features in Scala. While you’ll be primarily concerned with enhancing the capability of the connected vehicle platform, you will also design creative solutions with the front-end development team to give end-users a delightful IoT experience. You will often be called upon by your fellow developers to review their code and help troubleshoot, and they will offer you feedback as well. You’ll regularly provide input to the product management team on the complexity and feasibility of new features, and you will also collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure the system’s robustness.

WHAT WILL SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR THIS ROLE?

Success will be measured by the capability and power of the platform. A great back-end development team will deliver a platform that is superior to our competitors: with more features, a better code base, and empowered users. Individual success depends on timely delivery of user stories, helpful contributions to the code base outside of sprint commitments, and a teach-and-learn attitude that contributes to team spirit.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOU WILL HAVE GAINED ALONG THE WAY

  • Talent for writing simple and readable code

  • Ability to respond to and contribute constructive feedback

  • Knowledge of functional and distributed programming principles

  • Expert-level understanding of HTTP API design

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Apache Cassandra

  • Strong understanding of web security

  • Experience with messaging systems, like RabbitMQ or Kafka

  • Experience with version control software like Git

  • Desire to learn any of the above that you don’t know

Senior and junior-level candidates are welcome. If you are a great match for this opportunity, send an introduction to jobs@bitbrew.com. We can't wait to hear from you!
